The chapel of the Misericòrdia Cultural Centre in Palma is holding
until March 2, 2002, the historic exhibition "Jaume II i les ordinacions
de l'any 1300", organised by the Department of Culture of the Mallorcan
Council. The exhibition closes the programme of events celebrated in different
towns of Mallorca to commemorate the 700 anniversary of their foundation.
The show is a trip to the history of the Kingdom of Mallorca in 1300,
centred on the "Ordinacions", document signed by King James II. As from
the "Ordinations" of James II, 14 towns were formed on Mallorca.
The exhibitions is complemented with two other installations: one in
the patio of the Misericòrdia Cultural Centre, consisting of a huge
model of Mallorca on which you can walk and learn about several outstanding
places of the island in the time of James II; and another one in the ground
floor next to the Chapel, dedicated to the document archive that the Architect
Gabriel Alomar (Palma, 1919-1997) ceded to the Arxiu General del Consell
de Mallorca in 1991.
