Palma will destine 51.5 million euros to digital administration

Gedas Iberia will carry out a modernisation project.

The Palma Town Council will set up an ambitious project for modernisation and digital administration, to be carried out over the next 10 years with a total budget of 51.5 million euros. The company Gedas Iberia, with the collaboration of the Insituto Municipal de Informática (IMI), will be in charge of the development of the different sections contracted: Main Plan, Citizen's Advice, Integral System for Administration and Advanced Technological Services. They will also be in charge of setting up other services such as mobile administration units, the 3D guide of the city, the professional's portal, the project for education via the web, the environment inventory and Accessible Palma project.

In the development of this project, Gedas Iberia will have the collaboration of different specialised partners, particularly HP, SAP and Sponsor, plus TAO tools for administration aimed at the public.

The press department of Gedas, who have published the news today, Wednesday, did not know as of writing if the project will be based on free or private software. Neither have they been able to comment if the services offered on the web will fulfil the standards and directives recommended by the W3C.
