The celebration of the fiestas for Sant Antonio, around January 17, is a well rooted
tradition for the inhabitants of Muro, and the fiestas that are held there attract
visitors from all over the island, particularly the Sant Antoni dance on the 16th, the magic
night of the devils and bonfires, the "ximbombades" and the "butifarrons".
This
year, at 6 p.m. on Tuesday January 16, the devils will go out onto the streets accompanied by
the Xeremiers and at 8 p.m. the rockets will announce the lighting of the
bonfires. The night will be cheered on by the "ximbombers" and "xeremiers" (traditional
percussion instruments) playing throughout the centre of the town. In front of the

Nostra, dancers from the Escola de Ball
de Muro and from all over the island will play. In the plaza "Abeuradors" the
Escola sa Ximbomba de Muro will play, and in the centre of the Associació Murera de la
Tercera Edat, there will be groups Els Tres Romàntics, Tango and Cristal. Finally in
the plaza de Sant Martí there will be pop night "Fiesta 40 Principales" with the groups
Antònia Font, Violen Virgins and Hey You. Round the Town Hall bonfires there will be
sausages for everyone.
The following day, Sant Antoni, at 10 a.m. there will be a street parade with "Xeremiers".
At midday, at the Parish Church there will be the solemn mass to Sant Antoni Abat,
and as from 3.30 p.m. the traditional "Beneïdes" (animal blessing).
