Image and reality of the tourism on the Balearic Islands
With a conference by the Cuban historian Eusebio Leal Spengler and the vernisage of the exhibition "Between earth and water" the second international cycle "Futurisme: Image and reality of the tourism on the Balearic Islands" began yesterday, October 16, at the "Sa Nostra" Cultural Centre in Palma, organised by the Department of Tourism of the Balearic Government, the Social and Cultural department of "Sa Nostra" and the Balearic Tourism Institute.

The show "Entre terra i aigua", that can be visited until November 23, presents in a visual and interactive manner the tourist policy followed by the Balearic Government, as for investment in rehabilitation of tourist areas and recovery of of natural and patrimonial spaces.

The programme of conferences "Reinventing the Territory", that will continue until December 11, will have the participation of: Pave Zupan-Ruskovic, Minister for Tourism of the Croatia Republic (18/10/2001); Toyo Ito, architect (25/10/2001); Álvaro Mutis, writer (30/10/2001); Manuel Vázquez Montalbán, writer, and Iván de la Nuez, critical essayist (08/11/2001); Mondher Zenaidi, Minister for Tourism of Tunisia (15/11/2001); Antoni Marí, writer, Xavier Pastor, biologist, and Sergi Marí, economist (22/11/2001); Margarita Orfila, archaeologist (29/11/2001); and Zaha Hadid, architect (11/12/2001).

All the conferences will start at 7.30 p.m.
