The Arxiu del So i de la Imatge of Mallorca, situated on the third
floor of the Edifici Transparent of the Centre Cultural la Misericòrdia
in Palma, is holding until the end of January, 2002, the exhibition
"Fotografia a Mallorca 1839-1936", organised by the Department of Culture
of the Mallorcan Council with the collaboration by Sa Nostra and Lunwerg
Editors.
The exhibition has over eighty photographs taken on Mallorca between
1839 and 1936 by professional and amateur photographers and based on the
book of the same name by Maria José Mulet, edited by Lunwerg Editors.
The photos that come from private and public collections, are an example
of the development of this media on the island, from 1839 when it was presented
to the public on Mallorca up to the Civil War.
