"Còmic Nostrum 2002"

"Còmic Nostrum 2002"
The "Còmic Nostrum 2002" programme will be held from April 7 to June 30. The programme is organised by the "Associació d'Amics i Víctimes del Còmic" and will include exhibitions, films, conferences, a fair dedicated to old books and comics, presentations of new publications and some other activities to be confirmed.

The fair dedicated to old books and comics, that will be held on Sunday, April 7, in the patio of the Misericòrdia cultural centre in Palma, is one of the novelties of this year. The fair will be open to bookshops, antiquarians and private collectors, that will sell all kind of publications.

The programme includes two exhibitions. The first, that can be visited from April 11 to May 11 at the Sa Nostra Cultural Centre in Palma, is an anthological exhibition dedicated to the illustrator Marino Benejam Ferrer (Ciutadella, 1890 - Barcelona, 1975), collaborator for over fifty years on the humorous comic TBO and creator of such well known characters as the Ulises Family -one of the most popular families in postwar Spain- Melitón Pérez, Eustaquio Morcillón and Babalí, amongst others. The second exhibition, that can be visited from May 10 to June 30 at the Casal Solleric de Palma, is a retrospective about George Bess, well-known for his comics about Alejandro Jodorowsky, The White Llama and Juan Solo, and by very personal books, such as Escondida, where he offers a mystic and surrealist vision of Formentera, island where he currently lives.

As for the conferences, these will have the participation of outstanding representatives of the independent comic, the graphic humour and fiction, such as Martí from Barcelona, Manel Fontdevila and Rafael Marín.
