The third Shoe Fair will be held this weekend in Lloseta.
The vernissage of the exhibition by Catalina Salas at Sa Mina, last
Friday in Lloseta, initiated the programme of activities of the "III Fira
de sa Sabata", organised by the
Lloseta
Town Council with the support from the
Balearic
Government, the
Mallorcan
Counil and
Sa Nostra.
On Friday, May 31, at 8 p.m., two other exhibitions will open in Sa
Nostra: the "Trobada de Pintors" and the "III Premi de fotografia Vila
de Lloseta". At 9 p.m., at Sa Mina, there will be a poetry show with music,
followed by the presentation of the book "Art de trobar veritat" by Pere
Joan Martorell.
On Saturday, June 1, at 11 a.m., there will be the solemn Mass dedicated
to the shoe makers from Lloseta, followed by a performance by a group of
bagpipes and a popular activity where pigeons will be set free. The "III
Fira de sa Sabata" will begin at noon, where visitors will be able to compare
the craft and tools of a handmade shoe with that of the machine made shoe
from a factory. The day will end with an open air dance and music by the
Duo Piscis and the Trio Champagne.
On Sunday the Shoe Fair will continue, and there will also be children's
castles, and a concert, at noon, by the Unió Musical Inquera.
Lloseta, like the rest of villages from the Es Raiguer region, has a
long tradition in the shoe manufacture industry. On the Internet we find
the following shoe makers from Lloseta:
Bestard,
Comes,
Coll
and
Alcover.
