Dried figs in Lloret's "Festa des Sequer"

Next Saturday, September 6, Lloret de Vistalegre will hold the "Festa des Sequer", a very singular celebration dedicated to the world of figs and fig-drying that was founded in the 80's. The events will begin at 7.30 p.m. with the reception of the authorities and the "figuerelers majors", accompanied by the xeremiers. The "figuerelers majors", a man and a woman that preside the celebration, are chosen annually by lot among the 75 year old neighbours.

Afterwards there will be a Mass at the Parish church and the official proclamation of the fiestas by Felip Munar i Munar and Pere Orpí.

At 9 p.m., in the Cases dels Taronger, the exhibition dedicated to figs and fig products will open and the night will end with a popular dance with music by Música Nostra and Herbes Dolces. There will be drinks and food service, and tasting of dried figs and the Mallorca typical liqueurs "herbes dolces" and "herbes seques".
