Lorenzo wins the Grand Prix of Río de Janeiro for 125 c.c.
The Majorcan motor cyclist Jorge Lorenzo of the Caja Madrid Derbi Racing Team has obtained his first victory in a trial for the World championship of motorcycling by entering in first place in the Grand Prix of Rio de Janeiro for 125 c.c. held on Saturday on the Nelson Piquet circuit. On winning this trial at only 16 old, Lorenzo has become the second youngest pilot to win a Grand Prix in the world of motorcycling, after the Italian, Marco Melandri.

Jorge Lorenzo was born in Palma in 1987 and rode his first motorbike at the age of three.  Recently the pilot's father, has written the book "Initiation into sports motorcycling. The preparation of a future champion", published by the Editorial Hispano Europea.
