Mini Transat 2005 race across the Atlantic Ocean

With the Majorcan Hugo Ramón and the Ibizan Juan Carlos Sanchís.

On Saturday in La Rochelle (France), the Mini Transat 2005 began, this is a solo race across the Atlantic Ocean for 6.50 metres long boats that has the participation of the Majorcan Hugo Ramón, the Ibizan Juan Carlos Sanchís, and other 70 skippers. Hugo Ramon, from the Real Club Núatico of Palma, is the first time that takes part in this regatta with the sailing boat "Mallorca ets tu", sponosred by the Mallorca Insular Council. The Majorcan, that celebrated his 20th birthday last Thursday, is the youngest skipper of the regatta. Juan Carlos Sanchís, from the Club Náutico de Ibiza, will participate for the second time in the race with the "Spasmos" sailing boat.

Officially called Transat 6.50, the race has two stages: from La Rochelle to Puerto Calero (Lanzarote), and from this town to Salvador de Bahía (Brazil), covering a distance of over 4,000 marine miles.
