Tourism in the Balearic Islands in 2005

Increase in Mallorca and decrease in Menorca and Pitiüses.

Coinciding with the 26th edition of FITUR, the Ministry of Tourism of the Balearic Government has presented the report "Tourism in the Balearic Islands", which describes the year 2005 in the Balearic Islands with regard to tourism.

Arrivals of tourists in the Balearic Islands

According to the data of the annual report, in 2005 the Balearic Islands have received 11,626,188 tourists, amount that represents a 3.4% increase compared with the previous year.

Arrivals of tourists in Mallorca

In 2005 Mallorca has received 8,802,155 tourists, amount that represents a 5.4% increase compared with the previous year.

Arrivals of tourists in Menorca

In 2005 Menorca has received 1,061,009 tourist, amount that represents a 2% decrease compared with the previous year.

Arrivals of tourist in Eivissa and Formentera

In 2005 Eivissa and Formentera have received 1,763,024 tourist, amount that representc a 3% decrease compared with the previous year.

Other details

The annual report includes other data and statistics about the Palma airport hub operation, tourist establishment occupancy, stays, tourist profile, employment in the tourism sector, accommodation, restaurants, bars, nautical tourism, cruise tourism, golf tourism, cycle-tourism, air traffic and sea traffic.
