Puccini's opera Tosca at the Palma Auditorium

Menorcan baritone Joan Pons sings Scarpia.

The 10th Opera Season of the Teatre Principal will begin this weekend at the Palma Auditorium with the production Tosca, opera composed by Giacomo Puccini with a libretto by Luigi Illica and Giuseppe Giacosa, based on Victorien Sardou's play of the same name. The main singers are the baritone Joan Pons, the soprano Amarilli Nizza and the tenor Mario Malagnini. The production has the participation of the Infant Choir and Choir of the Teatre Principal de Palma Foundation and the Balearic Symphonic Orchestra, conducted by Francesc Bonnín and with stage direction by Pier Francesco Maestrini.

There will be two performances: on Friday 7th at 9 p.m. and on Sunday 9th at 8 p.m.

As an introduction to the performances, the Menorcan baritone Joan Pons will offer a lecture-conversation called "Meeting Scarpia" that will take place on Thursday 6th at 8 p.m. at the Mozart Hall of the Palma Auditorium.
