Orient is a small village in the municipality of Bunyola, situated in the centre of the valley of the same name. Surrounded by mountains it is part of one of the most fertile areas of Mallorca, between the Serra d'Alfabia and the Puig d'Alarˇ. The peace, the stone houses and the stepped streets are its principal characteristics.

On the highest point of the village, 450 metres high, is the parish church of Sant Jordi (Saint George) built in the XVIII century on the ancient chapel of the XIII century. In the lowest part, some singular public wash troughs are preserved. In the outskirts the houses of Cals Reis and Son Terrassa are the most outstanding.

Beside the main road that joins the village to Bunyola and Alarˇ, is the popular Restaurnt Orient, where, amongst other traditional cuisine specialties, people can try the roast suckling pig. On the other side of the road is the restaurant and hotel Dalt Muntanya, and in the upper part of the village the gastronomic choice is complemented by the restaurant Mandala, specialising in French cuisine.

As for hotel accommodation, as well as the aforementioned Dalt Muntanya, in the church square is the hotel Son Palou. In the outskirts of the village is the L'Hermitage, an ancient property converted into a rural hotel and restaurant, plus the property Honor Vell, that previously produced oil and is now an agrotourism establishment.
