The Government approves a moratorium for marinas
The Govern de les Illes Balears, in a meeting today, April 5 of the Cabinet, has approved initially the temporary territorial Norm for the creation of the new Sectorial Directive Plan for Sports Ports or Marinas, and nautical installation in the Balearics.

According to what is established by the initially approved norm, the permission for concessions to construct marinas and nautical installations in the Balearics and Pitiüses has been suspended. As far as the working of existing installations, they will only authorise the extension of less than 10% of the authorised mooring area.

The temporary norm excludes from its application field those stretches of the coast and port areas that have, or can have, a Plan for Coastal Order, Plan of use of port areas, or Special Plan finally approved.  At present the Council of Environment is preparing the plans for the ports of Sóller, Portocolom and Andratx, on Mallorca, and Ciutadella, Fornells and Cala Molí on Menorca; and Sant Antoni on Eivissa.

The new norm should be finally passed within 6 months. Once approved, the Council for Environment will have 3 years to publish the new Sectorial Directive Plan for Marinas and Nautical installations.
